Wednesday Weather Discussion

Good Afternoon!

Short-Term:  High pressure will continue to build into East Tennessee the rest of the week with clear skies continuing but also chilly temperatures into Friday.  At least we’ll have sunshine the next two days to end the week.  The other weather story will be the very cold temperatures tonight and tomorrow night with lows in the upper teens expected … bundle up!

The Weekend:  After a chance for a brief wintry mix early Saturday morning, expect a nice warming trend this weekend with highs in the middle 50s on Saturday, then warming into the middle 60s under a partly cloudy sky Sunday.  Rain is expected to return late Sunday night.

Next Week:  Rain showers are likely on Monday along with cooler temperatures in the 50s.  We then will see even colder temps sliding in Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s.

Enjoy the rest of your night!

Tuesday Weather Discussion:

Good Afternoon!

One weak disturbance continues to move away to our East, allowing for partial clearing with mixed sunshine and high clouds this afternoon.  Latest visible satellite shows some high clouds still streaming our way http://www.aviationweather.gov/adds/satellite/displaysat?region=MGM&isingle=single&itype=vis.  Temps remain on the cool side near 50 for the rest of today.

Tonight/Wednesday:

Two other impulses move our way by early Wednesday morning, one to our North and one just to our South.  Latest guidance is indicating the southern disturbance could pull just enough moisture up from the south (from Alabama and Georgia) into southern parts of Tennessee.  With cold air in place overnight, parts of the Southern Valley could see some light snow accumulations early Wednesday morning.  This would include the counties of Hamilton, Bradley, S. McMinn, S. Monroe and Polk, then eastward into NC.  Further north, the rest of East TN will likely experience just some flurries Wednesday morning, then clearing by afternoon and much colder.  The northern disturbance will likely only affect SE Kentucky and SW Virginia with a light snowfall accumulation of an inch or two possible in those regions.

In summary: Slick roadways are possible early Wednesday across extreme southern sections of East TN, as well as across SE KY and SW VA and possible Upper East TN border counties.  Highs Wednesday will only be in the middle to upper 30s, so dress warmly tomorrow!!
